Since its premiere in August of this year, the Kia Seltos has maintained stable monthly sales numbers. It was the best-selling SUV in the Indian market in October of this year. Seltos easily outsold its cousin, the Hyundai Creta, which sold 6,455 units over the same period with a sales volume of 10,488 units. The large range of options offered by the Korean carmaker is one of the main reasons for Seltos’ success in the country. Trims, engine, and transmission options, as well as combinations of these, are all included. Kia Seltos will soon have more options available to customers, bolstering its position in the tiny C-segment of SUVs/crossovers.
Kia Seltos Diesel IMT
According to our sources, Kia will offer an IMT gearbox with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It is expected to debut after the Carens MPV, which is set to debut in January/February 2022. This will be the oil burner’s third transmission option, as it now comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
As of now, it’s unclear which trims will be available with this combo. It’s expected that, like its petrol IMT counterpart, it’ll be available with the HTK+ variation. Expect to pay around Rs 50k more than the equivalent MT model. An iMT gearbox, also known as an intelligent manual transmission, is a clutchless manual transmission incorporating sensors and actuators. While gear shifting with a stick shift is done manually, clutch operation is done automatically.
This sort of gearbox is ideal for enthusiastic drivers who want manual transmission control while also being more convenient in congested areas. It was first seen in the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue. The iMT is also available in Seltos’ 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Across the board, a 6-speed manual transmission is standard.
