Rumors about Royal Enfield building a more powerful version of the Himalayan surfaced on the internet a few months ago. Since the success of the 650 twins, many have been talking about the more powerful Himalayan 650cc. The concept has been approved by the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer, and the new Himalayan will be powered by a 650cc parallel-twin engine.
New details about this future motorcycle have surfaced, providing us with additional information. When Royal Enfield chose to construct the 650cc parallel-twin motor, the Himalayan 650 was not part of the idea. The development of this motorcycle began about 18 months ago. However, we’ll have to wait at least three years longer because the new Himalayan 650 won’t be available until the fourth quarter of 2024.
Himalayan 650cc Engine
The company’s main issue is that the Himalayan now weighs roughly 199 kg, which is on the heavier side. Placing a larger power plant on top of it will just make it heavier. As a result, the adventure bike’s chassis in the next 650cc edition is likely to be returned by Royal Enfield.
Furthermore, the modern Himalayan’s excessive weight is one of the bike’s most glaring flaws in an otherwise popular motorcycle. The modern 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor produces a modest power of 24.3 bhp and a peak torque of 32 Nm, and its added weight doesn’t help matters. On the road, the motorcycle isn’t particularly active, and it struggles to maintain triple-digit speeds while traveling.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 650cc Wheels
In comparison to the existing model, the new Himalayan 650 will have a number of significant differences. The new 650cc Himalayan, for example, would be less adept on tough terrain than the present model. It will come in two versions, one with alloy wheels and the other with spoked rims. The former will be marketed as a sports tourer, while the latter will be marketed as an adventure tourer with a focus on the road.

This implies it won’t be an adventure bike in the traditional sense, and the adventure tourer version will be more of a tour-oriented soft-roader. The Himalayan 650 will have a 19-inch front wheel instead of the 411’s 21-inch wheel. The back wheel will be 17 inches in diameter. Furthermore, the bikemaker may not even refer to this next motorcycle as a ‘Himalayan,’ but rather give it a new name.
In the new Himalayan 650, the rider will be seated in a taller saddle, and ground clearance will be outstanding. The exhaust pipe will be raised as well. Around 80-85% of the existing model’s design will be carried over to the next motorcycle. As a result, we should expect Royal Enfield to keep its tough look.
Expected Features, Display, Bluetooth Etc
Royal Enfield is also developing a more rugged version of the Himalayan. The new Himalayan could come with features like a new instrument console with a TFT display, according to the manufacturer. Bluetooth connectivity, numerous riding modes, and a one-level traction control system are all possibilities. The motorcycle’s braking system will be improved as well.
A familiar 648cc parallel-twin engine from the Interceptor and Continental GT will power this forthcoming Himalayan version. This motor produces 47 horsepower and 52 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. However, we’ll have to wait at least three years longer because the new Himalayan 650 won’t be available until the fourth quarter of 2024.
Himalayan 650cc Launch Date
Because some people believe the present Himalayan is underpowered due to its heavyweight, Royal Enfield is introducing another Himalayan to the lineup.
